Manifest: Animation Show & Tell is a monthly discussion event aimed at both the general public and devotees in which the breadth and diversity of animation is explored. Created and moderated by animator Tess Martin in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, it started in October 2014 at Roodkapje and has been hosted by WORM since January 2015. Once in a while the events take place in other places such as Amsterdam, The Hague, Nijmegen and Breda.
Each evening three pre-selected participants bring a clip from an animation that they find interesting or inspiring, but that they didn’t make themselves. There are no restrictions to the chosen clip, except that it should be animated in some manner (broad definition of animation) and preferably under 5 minutes. We watch the clip as a group, and then the show & tell-er should be able to explain in a few sentences why they chose that clip. We then spend 20 mins discussing the clip and looking up other stuff on the internet right there on the spot. I research the clip beforehand and moderate the discussion to make sure it moves along smoothly. It’s meant to be informal and fun!
At Cinetoko Fest, Tess will interview three artists: Johan Rijpma, Vera van Wolferen and Coen Brasser. These artists will bring their favourite clip of animation to discuss with the audience.
